Big Bang Theory Unscientific – Find Truth in Gurbani

 

Gurbani means the guru’s word and stands for content of the Sikh scripture Sri Gur Granth Sahib.

In this age, creation of the Universe by the Big Bang is widely accepted.

However, background to the Big Bang theory is not science but denial of the Creator. The scientists start from what exists but claim they are describing the origin of the universe. They claim that what religion says is not science because it has not been tested and proved. However, Big Bang theory has neither been, nor can be, tested and proved. They have made up their minds that the Creator has no hand in creation and are trying to prove it.

This paper examines the issue.

There is perfect order in the universe, which shows the universe was created, and functions as one composite system. Sri Guru Granth Sahib emphasizes that the Creator has integrated life with the cosmic system. This removes dichotomy. Scientists like Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein acknowledged that religion and science go together. Here is a synopsis of the system showing its wide range and complexity.

 

The complex Universe

The universe functions as one well-tuned composite system. It comprises of cosmic bodies and creatures showing planning, with roles assigned to every one of them. While creation was a one-time event, its functioning and maintenance is ongoing. The beauty lies in the fact that the Creator does all this unseen.

There are numerous universes, which exist and function in perfect harmony. Our earth with its atmosphere is alone known to have life at present.

The sun, moon and earth provide light; create days, nights and seasons, which regulate activities of the creatures for work, pleasure and rest. Air, water, land, space and heat energy enable life.

Variety of crops, vegetables and fruits grow based on seasons for round the year supply for the creatures. The system of rains provides water for drinking, washing and irrigation of the soil. The surplus water flows into the seas. It evaporates to form clouds, which travel to drop rain.

The Creator created the means of subsistence before creating the creatures. For example, the mother has milk ready when the baby arrives, and creatures born under the rocks or in water get their sustenance there.

The Creator has designed the system of formation of the fetus with union of the male semen and female egg, birth of the baby, growth through childhood, youth and old age, culminating in death for humans.

The Creator has also designed three other systems of births for other species. They are through the egg like for the birds, from perspiration like for the lice, and soil like for the earthworms.

God decides the moments of births and deaths. Medical help fails when the end comes.

As may be seen, this is one total integrated perfectly designed system. It could not have been created by an explosion when nothing existed.

The human body has many interdependent and interconnected sub-systems. The male and female reproductive systems match perfectly for pleasure and procreation.

The Creator has also provided sensory and action organs to the human body to facilitate its functioning. The sensory organs are eyes, ears, nose, tongue for taste and skin. They collect information and provide information to the brain. The action organs are hands, feet, tongue for speech, anus for excrement and the genital for procreation and pleasure.

However, theoretical scientists like Stephen Hawking, acknowledge that laws of nature were made by God, but say that does not prove that God exists. This is a clear example of dichotomy. They have shown no practical application of their theories and only created conflict between religion and science.

 

SGGS says the universe was created by Creator as a whole system when nothing existed and no laws can explain it.

 

ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਜਿਵ ਫੁਰਮਾਏ ਤਿਵ ਤਿਵ ਪਾਹਿ ॥

The cosmic laws do not apply to the Creator who ordained them – as IT is not a physical entity, but the formless Jot/Spirit.  Japji Paurri 19.

 

On the other hand, the scientists say that the universe came into being from nothing according to laws of science by an explosion called the Big Bang.

 

As may be seen, the two concepts are the same with the scientist replacing the Creator with Big Bang. The difference is that religion clarifies that laws of science did not apply, while the scientists claim they did.

 

The concept of creation coming into being according to laws of science from nothing fails for the following reasons.

 

1. Science requires matter, space and energy for an explosion to take place. However, by its very definition, origin means nothing existed including time and space. That indicates Big Bang never happened. It is a fallacy.
2. The universe exists as planets and galaxies in space without support. The cosmic bodies are in orbits according to a plan like the sun, earth and moon creating seasons, days, nights, and lunar cycles. Who made and implemented this design? There is no way Big Bang could not have done this.
3. The satellites of today need rocket power to launch them. How did this happen in case of the sun, earth and moon when nothing existed?
4. The scientist says the Big Bang produced matter, space and energy from nothing and formed the universe. Where did it come from?
5. The scientists say the Big Bang occurred from a black hole, which is concentration of mass and energy with time being reduced to zero. This raises two questions. Firstly, how was the black hole formed when nothing existed? Secondly, it is believed that many black holes are being formed, so explosions should be taking place and more universes created all the time. This is not the case.
6. There is no mention of how life came into being. Darwins’ theory about the origin of species makes no mention of how life came into being but calls it origin. It only talks of changes with time and region. It also says we have a common ancestor but does not say what was it and how it came into existence.

 

The Big Bang theory repeats what religion says but corrupts that. SGGS says that the Creator created air, water, fire, earth and space, which comprise both, the cosmic bodies and life.

The scientist says Big Bang occurred with explosion that created matter, space and energy. It only thinks of the inanimate part.

It then says galaxies moved away from the point of explosion. It therefore assumes that the process of creation occurred at one point and galaxies moved away. It does not explain how galaxies came into being. It also means only our one universe was created because only galaxies are mentioned, not universes.

ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਬਾਝੁ ਕਲਾ ਆਡਾਣੁ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥ —- ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਅਰੰਭੇ ਗੁਪਤਹੁ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਇਦਾ ॥

When the Creator decided to create the universe, IT placed the expanse in space without support. — IT started with planets, galaxies and universes; this is how the hidden/formless Creator manifested. P 1036

The Creator’s powers are beyond comprehension. The universe came into being with the Creator’s powers.

Note: This cannot be understood with concept of a personal God.

 

The Musical Group Model. The universe is a perfectly tuned system like a musical group comprising of the director, musical instruments with their players, musical notes and the singers. These are metaphors. The singers are the elements air, water, planets, galaxies and universes. Japji Paurri 27

Here is further elucidation. Gurbani says

 

ਆਪੇ ਸਚੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ॥ ਅੰਡਜ ਫੋੜਿ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿ ॥

The Creator enclosed all components of the proposed universe in IT-self like in an eggshell and decided their roles.

IT burst the egg and let everything to spread. (Note: science has interpreted this as an explosion from which point the galaxies went in all directions).

ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਕੀਏ ਬੈਸਣ ਕਉ ਥਾਉ ॥ ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਨੰਤੁ ਕੀਏ ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ॥

The Creator made the earth and its sky/atmosphere as the place for life to exist.

Note: Gurbani had stated that life would exist only on the earth in the sixteenth century. It has not been found anywhere else despite efforts for long. Also Gurbani mentioned multiple universes in the sixteenth century, but the scientists discovered this in i992.

Important Note: The scientist’s concept limits the event to one point, saying galaxies moved in all directions after the explosion. On the other hand, Gurbani says Creator is the all-pervasive Spirit, hence the collection was not at one location but everywhere. Gurbani elucidates it thus.

ਆਸਣੁ ਲੋਇ ਲੋਇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਏਕਾ ਵਾਰ ॥

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ॥

The Creator’s seat/presence is everywhere and provisions made everywhere. The Creator put everything in them all at one time. The Creator creates and looks after. What the Eternal does is right. Japji Paurri 31.

ਸਸੀਅਰ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸੂਰੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥

The moon receives light from the sun and lights up the sky at night. P 840

ਸੂਰਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥      ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਵੇਸ ॥੨॥੨॥

There is one sun and numerous seasons; these are manifestations of the Creator – who is the formless Spirit. P 12-13

 

Age of the Universe

The scientists have calculated age of the universe at 13.7 billion years, assuming that galaxies are moving at measured velocity. However, it has also been observed that galaxies farther away are moving faster. It also assumes that the movement is in straight lines. This ignores gravitational forces and cannot be true.

The major issue however, is that it takes the earth as the reference point for measurement. That assumes the explosion took place where the earth is. There is no basis for this because there are numerous universes. Also the earth is also moving like others, so what was observed is relative movement.

 

Cosmic Microwave Background

Two scientists at Bell labs who were working on a radio receiver in 1965 found some noise. It was assumed to be remnant of microwave radiation created by the Big Bang, and declared as its firm proof. This is a fallacy. Heat does not produce microwaves. It is the other way as seen in a microwave oven where the microwaves generated by the magnetron heat food. I am a telecommunication engineer with extensive experience in mobile and static communications. My last assignment was execution of a wide static microwave communication network. Everyone is aware that microwave radiation stops as soon as the transmitter stops transmitting. But, in this case it is being assumed to have lasted billions of years, the assumed age of the universe. Radio receivers often experience noise. This is caused by unwanted transmitters and radiation from electric power stations as well as overhead high tension power lines. It is also caused by phenomena in nature like lightning and other disturbances. The latter are called ‘atmospherics’ and are a major cause of noise. This is what seems to have been experienced at Bell Labs. The Big Bang theory fails on this account also, which protagonists of Big Bang call its firm proof.

Unanswered Questions

The Big Bang theory assumes that the universe was created from nothing according to laws of science. No law of science says that. In fact, it violates the law of conservation of energy, which says energy cannot be created or destroyed; only the form can change.

It is assumed that Big Bang produced high temperatures of billions of degrees Celsius, then assumes what happened after a trillionth of a second; and finally says when the temperature came down to one billion degrees Celsius, the protons got mass. Pray, how were these temperatures generated from nothing and how were they measured? Where did the protons come from? Protons along with neutrons and electrons are part of the atom. Even the atom cannot exist independently, only the molecules can. So where did the protons come from?

 

Standard Model

Here is another aspect. Standard models are formed after empirical evidence, and then used for prediction and application. The everyday example of this the meteorological models which forecast weather.

However, in this case the scientists have made up their mind that there is no Creator and are trying to prove it. They have imagined a Standard Model of particle physics to show how the universe came into being by laws of science. When the scientists claimed to discover the Higgs Boson in 2012, one of the statements made was that it ‘dealt death knell to religion’. Once again, they have to show where the particles come from. In any case, the so called standard model does not explain the fundamental phenomenon of gravity. Also, nature is not like the Large Hadron Collider of CERN Geneva, built to justify the scientists’ concept of the standard model. No atom has such power acting within it.

The scientists need to explain what put the cosmic bodies in planned orbits like the combination of the sun, earth and the moon.

The Final Challenge

The scientists know the laws of science and they have the Large Hadron Collider at Geneva, which is supposed to confirm creation of the universe as they think. Let them create a small universe or even a planet.

Science is characterized by exactness, not speculation. The scientists should either prove or retract their claim of the Big Bang creating the universe.
