Mārū mėhlā 3.  Jagjīvan sācẖā eko ḏāṯā.  Gur sevā ṯe sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.

Compositions of the third Guru in Raga Maaroo. (Saacha) the Eternal (jagjeevan-u = life of the world) Creator is (eyko) the lone (daata = giver) provider of all. IT is (pachhaata) recognized (sabad-i = with word) by understanding IT’s commands (tey) by (seyva = service) following guidance of (gur) the guru.

Ėko amar ekā paṯisāhī jug jug sir kār baṇā▫ī he. ||1||

There is (eyko) only one (amar-u = orders) rule and (eyka) one (paatshaahi = kingdom) authority for (jug-u jug-u = ages) all time, who (banaaee) lays down (kaar = task) role (sir-i = on head) of everyone. 1.

So jan nirmal jin āp pacẖẖāṯā.  Āpe ā▫e mili▫ā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa.  Rasnā sabaḏ raṯī guṇ gāvai ḏar sācẖai paṯ pā▫ī he. ||2||

(So) that (jan-u = servant) seeker, (jin-i) who (apachhaata) recognizes (aap-u) the self – the Divine commands within – remains (nirmal-u = pure) free of vices. The Almighty (sukhdaata) giver of peace/solace (aaey) comes and (miliaa) meets, i.e. is found by, such a person.

S/he (gaavai = sings) praises (gun) virtues of the Almighty with (rasna) the tongue – and emulates them; s/he (paaee) receives (pat-i) honor (dar-i) in the court of, i.e. is accepted for union by, (saachai) the Eternal –. 2.

Gurmukẖ nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī.  Manmukẖ ninḏak paṯ gavā▫ī.  Nām raṯe param hans bairāgī nij gẖar ṯāṛī lā▫ī he. ||3||

While one (gurmukh-i) who follows the guru’s instructions (milai) receives (vaddiaaee) glory in Divine court, by practice (naam-i) Naam or Divine virtues and commands; one (manmukh-i) who acts by self-will and (nindak-i) one who slanders the Gurmukh, (gavaaee = loses) is denied (pat-i = honour) union with the Creator.

Those (ratey) imbued (naam-i) with Divine virtues and commands are (param = supreme, hans = white bird like a swan) spotless – free of vices – and (bairaagi) yearn for the Creator; they (laaee = fix, taarri = deep concentration) remain focused (nij = own, ghar-i = house) with a steady mind – not looking elsewhere. 3.

Sabaḏ marai so▫ī jan pūrā.  Saṯgur ākẖ suṇā▫e sūrā.  Kā▫i▫ā anḏar amriṯ sar sācẖā man pīvai bẖā▫e subẖā▫ī he. ||4||

(Soi) only that person, who (marai = dies) gives up ego like a dead person (sabad-i = with Word) with obedience to Divine commands is (poora) the perfect (jan-u = servant) seeker. (Satigur-u) the true guru (soora = warrior) who has himself overcome vices (aakh-i = says, sunaaey = causes to hear) makes him/her aware of Divine commands.

(Kaaiaa) the body has (sar-u) the pool of (Amrit = nectar) Naam of (saacha) the Eternal present (andar-i) within; (man-u) the mind that (peevai = drinks) is aware of it (subhaaey) lovingly lives by Naam (subhaaey) making it his/her nature. 4.

Paṛ pandiṯ avrā samjẖā▫e.  Gẖar jalṯe kī kẖabar na pā▫e.  Bin saṯgur seve nām na pā▫ī▫ai paṛ thāke sāʼnṯ na ā▫ī he. ||5||

(Panddit) the scholar/priest (parr-i) reads scriptures and (samjhaaey = causes to understand) explains to (avra) others. But does not himself (paaey) get (khabar-i) awareness (ki) of his (jaltey) burning (ghar) house, i.e. remains unaware and hence devoid of peace within.

Awareness of (Naam-u) is not (paaeeai) obtained (bin-u = without) except (seyvey = serving) by following (satigur) the true guru. Even though people (thaakey = get tired) ever keep (parr-i) reading scriptures because (saant-i) peace – which comes by practice of Naam – is not (aaee = come) attained – without understanding it. 5.

Ik bẖasam lagā▫e firėh bẖekẖ▫ḏẖārī.  Bin sabḏai ha▫umai kin mārī.  An▫ḏin jalaṯ rahėh ḏin rāṯī bẖaram bẖekẖ bẖarmā▫ī he. ||6||

(Ik-i = one type) some (bheykhdhaar-i = wearing garbs) impostors (phirah-i = wander) go about with (bhasam) ash (lagaaey) smeared on the body – to display humility. But (kin-i = who?) no one (maari) kills (haumai) ego (bin-u) without (sabdai = with the Word) understanding Divine commands.

And people (andin-u = everyday) ever (rahah-i) remain (jalat = burning) restless (din-u) day and (raati) night (bharmaaee) wandering, (bharam-i) deluded by (bheykh-i = garbs) pretentious living. 6.

Ik garih kutamb mėh saḏā uḏāsī.  Sabaḏ mu▫e har nām nivāsī.  An▫ḏin saḏā rahėh rang rāṯe bẖai bẖā▫e bẖagaṯ cẖiṯ lā▫ī he. ||7||

(Ik-i) some live (mah-i) in their (grih) homes with (kuttanb) family but (udaasi = withdrawn) are unattached. They (muey = have died) have given up ego (sabad-i = with Word) with obedience to Divine commands and (nivaasi = resident) remain in remembrance (naam-i) of commands of (har-i) the Almighty.

They (sadaa) ever (rahah-i) remain (raatey) imbued (rang-i) with love of the Almighty (andin-u = everyday) all the time, with (chit-u) the mind (laaee) fixed (bhai = fear) obedience to God (bhaaey) in loving (bhagat-i) devotion. 7.

Manmukẖ ninḏā kar kar viguṯā.  Anṯar lobẖ bẖa▫ukai jis kuṯā.  Jamkāl ṯis kaḏe na cẖẖodai anṯ ga▫i▫ā pacẖẖuṯā▫ī he. ||8||

(Manmukh-u) a self-willed person (kar-i kar-i = keeps doing, ninda = slander) keeps slandering those who obey the Almighty and (vigutaa) is frustrated – for s/he attains northing. S/he is one (jis-u) who has (lobh = greed, kutaa = dog) greed of, and (bhaukai) barks like, (kutaa) a dog (antar-i) within – keeps burning with craving and ill-will.

(Jamkaa-u) the agent of death (kadey na) never (chhoddai = leaves) spares (tis-u = that) him/her from punishment of rebirth, and (ant-i) ultimately s/he (gaiaa = departs) dies (pachhutaaee) repenting. 8.

Sacẖai sabaḏ sacẖī paṯ ho▫ī.  Bin nāvai mukaṯ na pāvai ko▫ī.  Bin saṯgur ko nā▫o na pā▫e parabẖ aisī baṇaṯ baṇā▫ī he. ||9||

(Sachi = true) real (pat-i) honor (hoi = happens) is received with obedience (sabad-i) to commands of (sachai) the Eternal – by way of approval by the Creator and thus obviating reincarnation. (Na koi) no one (paavai) attains (mukat-i) freedom from reincarnation (bin-u) without obedience (naavai = to Naam) to Divine commands.

And (ko na) no one (paaey) receives awareness of (naau) Naam (bin-u) except from (satigur) the true guru; (aisi) such is (banat = make) the system (banaaee) made (prabh-i) by the Almighty. 9.

Ik siḏẖ sāḏẖik bahuṯ vīcẖārī.  Ik ahinis nām raṯe nirankārī.  Jis no āp milā▫e so būjẖai bẖagaṯ bẖā▫e bẖa▫o jā▫ī he. ||10||

(Ik-i = one type) some (sidh) accomplished saints and (saadhik) seekers are (bahut-u) greatly (veechaari) thoughtful. (Ik-i) some are (ratey) imbued (naam-i) with Naam (nirankaari) of the Formless Creator (ahinis-i) day and night.

One (jis no) whom the Almighty (aap-i) IT-self (milaaey = causes to meet) engages in IT’s remembrance, (so) that person (boojhai) understands Naam; and (bhaaey) with loving (bhagat-i = devotion) faith all his/her (bhau) fear (jaaee) goes. 10.

Isnān ḏān karahi nahī būjẖėh.  Ik manū▫ā mār manai si▫o lūjẖėh.  Sācẖai sabaḏ raṯe ik rangī sācẖai sabaḏ milā▫ī he. ||11||

Some (karah-i) take (isnaan-u) ritual baths and (daan-u) give in charity, but do not (boojhah-i) understand Naam. While some understand Naam, (loojhah-i) fight (sio) with (manai) the mind and (maar-i = kill) subdue vices in (manooaa = mind) within.

With awareness (sabad-i) of commands of (saachai) the Eternal, they are (ratey) imbued (rangi) with love of (ik) the One Master; obedience (sabad-i) to commands (saachai) of the Eternal (milaaee) unites them with IT. 11.

Āpe sirje ḏe vadi▫ā▫ī.  Āpe bẖāṇai ḏe▫e milā▫ī.  Āpe naḏar kare man vasi▫ā merai parabẖ i▫o furmā▫ī he. ||12||

The Creator (aapey) IT-self (sirjey) creates and (dey = gives) imparts (vaddiaai) virtues. And (de-i milaai) unites with IT-self at (bhaanai) when pleased.

IT (vasiaa = resides) is kept in mind when (aapey) IT-self (karey) bestows (nadar-i) grace; (io) this is how (prabh-i) the Master (meyrai = my) of all (furmaaee = ordered) ordained. 12.

Saṯgur sevėh se jan sācẖe.  Manmukẖ sev na jāṇan kācẖe.  Āpe karṯā kar kar vekẖai ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o lā▫ī he. ||13||

(Sey) those (jan) persons who (seyvah-i = serve) obey (satigur-u) true guru are (saachey = truthful) genuine seekers. (Manukh) self-willed persons do not (jaanah-i) know (seyv-i = serving) of obedience to the Creator; they are (kaachey = antonym of saachey/genuine) not genuine.

(Karta) the Creator (aapey) IT-self (kar-i kar-i) creates and (veykhai) watches; IT (laaee) engages everyone (tio = that way) in tasks (jio) as (bhaavai) IT pleases. 13.

Jug jug sācẖā eko ḏāṯā.  Pūrai bẖāg gur sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.  Sabaḏ mile se vicẖẖuṛe nāhī naḏrī sahj milā▫ī he. ||14||

(Eko) the One (saacha) Eternal Master is (daataa = giver) the Sustainor (jug-i jug-i) in every age – and is to be obeyed. It is with (poorai) good (bhaag-i) fortune that one (pachaata = recognizes) understands (sabad-u = word) instructions of (gur) the guru – to obey Divine commands.

Those who (miley = meet) find the Almighty (sabad-i) through obedience to commands, (sey) they are not (vichhurrey) separated – they are aware of the worth of remembrance; (nadar-i) with Divine grace they (sahj-i) remain naturally (milaaee) united with the Almighty. 14.

Ha▫umai mā▫i▫ā mail kamā▫i▫ā.  Mar mar jamėh ḏūjā bẖā▫i▫ā.  Bin saṯgur seve mukaṯ na ho▫ī man ḏekẖhu liv lā▫ī he. ||15||

One acting in (haumai) ego and (maaiaa) attachment to the world-play, (kamaaiaa = earn) gathers (mail-u) the dirt of vices on the mind. S/he (bhaaiaa = likes) is lured by (dooja) other ideas – than obedience to Divine commands – and (mar-i mar-i) keeps dying and (jammah-i) being born.

(Mukat-i) freedom from this is not (hoi) attained (bin-u) without (seyvey = serving) obeying (satigur) the true guru’s teachings to live by Divine commands; (liv = attention, laaee = fixed) think (man-i) in the mind and you will (deykhahu = see) realize this. 15.

Jo ṯis bẖāvai so▫ī karsī.  Āphu ho▫ā nā kicẖẖ hosī.  Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī ḏar sācẖai paṯ pā▫ī he. ||16||3||

The Creator (karsi = shall do) does (soi) only that (jo) what (tis-u = that) IT (bhaavai = pleases) decides, i.e. everything happens by the Creator’s will. (Na) nothing has (kichh-u) anything ever (hoaa) happened by the creature’s (aapahu) own efforts alone nor (hosi) will it happen.

One (milai) obtains (vaddiaai) greatness/blessing of living by (naam-u) Divine virtues and commands – s/he does not commit any transgressions; and (paaee) receives (pat-i) the honour of being accepted for union (dar-i = in court) by (saachai) the Eternal, says Nanak. 16. 3.

Mārū mėhlā 3.  Jo ā▫i▫ā so sabẖ ko jāsī.  Ḏūjai bẖā▫e bāḏẖā jam fāsī.  Saṯgur rākẖe se jan ubre sācẖe sācẖ samā▫ī he. ||1||

Composition of the third Guru in Raga Maaroo. (Jo) all those (aaiaa = came) who are born (sabh-u) everyone (ko) of (so) them (jaasi = shall go) are to die. One following (doojai = second) other (bhaaey) ideas – than obedience to the Creator’s directions – shall (baadhaa) be bound (phaasi) in noose of (jam) agent of Divine justice, i.e. shall be taken to task – and sent for rebirth.

Those who are (raakhey = protected) guided (satigur-i) by the true guru, (sey) those (jan) persons (ubrey) rise above other ideas; they are (saachey) true seekers – who are not reborn – and (samaaee) merge (saach-i) in the Eternal. 1.

Āpe karṯā kar kar vekẖai.  Jis no naḏar kare so▫ī jan lekẖai. Gurmukẖ gi▫ān ṯis sabẖ kicẖẖ sūjẖai agi▫ānī anḏẖ kamā▫ī he. ||2||

The Creator (aapey = self) IT-self (kar-i kar-i) creates the creatures and (veykhai) watches them for their welfare and obedience to IT’s instructions. (Soi) only that (jan-u) person (no) to (jis) whom IT (karey) bestows (nadar-i) grace, (leykhai = in count) becomes acceptable to IT.

With (giaan-u) awareness received (gurmukh-i) from the guru’s guidance, (tis-u) that person (soojhai) becomes aware of (sabh-u kichh-u) everything; but (agiaani = unaware) one ignorant of the guru’s teachings (kamaaee) acts (andh-u = darkness) blindly and achieves nothing. 2.

Manmukẖ sahsā būjẖ na pā▫ī.  Mar mar jammai janam gavā▫ī. Gurmukẖ nām raṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā sėhje sācẖ samā▫ī he. ||3||

(Manmukh = self-willed) those who do not follow the guru, have (sahsaa) doubts as they do not (paai) have (soojh) awareness of how to lead life. They (gavaai = lose) waste (janam-u) human birth and (mar-i mar-i) keep dying and (jamaai) are born again and again.

(Gumukh-i) those who follow the guru are (ratey) imbued with love (naam-i) for the Almighty – and commit no transgressions –; they (paaiaa) attain (sukh-u) peace (sahjey) easily (samaaee) merging (saach-i) in the Eternal. 3.

Ḏẖanḏẖai ḏẖāvaṯ man bẖa▫i▫ā manūrā.  Fir hovai kancẖan bẖetai gur pūrā. pe bakẖas la▫e sukẖ pā▫e pūrai sabaḏ milā▫ī he. ||4||

Every (man-u) mind has the treasure of Naam in it, but (bhaiaa) becomes (manoora) like waste iron if it is unaware of Naam and (dhaavat) runs after (dhandhai) material pursuits only. When one (bheyttai) finds (poora) the perfect (gur) guru, the mind (hovai) becomes (kanchan-u) gold, i.e. discovers Naam within. (Aapey = self) the Almighty (bakhas-i laey) forgives his/her transgressions and s/he (paaey) attains (sukh-u) peace by (milaaee) uniting (sabad-i) through obedience of Divine commands. 4.

Ḏurmaṯ jẖūṯẖī burī buri▫ār.  A▫ugaṇi▫ārī a▫ugaṇi▫ār.  Kacẖī maṯ fīkā mukẖ bolai ḏurmaṯ nām na pā▫ī he. ||5||

(Durmat-i) evil thinking/counsel/makes a person (jhootthi = false) run after transitory pleasures; it is (buri) bad and makes a soul-woman (buriaar-i) of evil conduct. It makes the soul-woman (auganiaari) virtue-less who (auganiaar-i) commits faults.

One with (kachi – antonym to sachi/true) false/evil (mat-i) thinking (bolai) speaks (pheeka = insipid) arrogantly (mukh-i) from the mouth; (durmat-i) evil thoughts in mind do not let him/her (paaee) find Naam within. 5.

A▫ugaṇi▫ārī kanṯ na bẖāvai.  Man kī jūṯẖī jūṯẖ kamāvai.  Pir kā sā▫o na jāṇai mūrakẖ bin gur būjẖ na pā▫ī he. ||6||

A soul-woman (auganiaari) bereft of virtues is not (bhaavai) liked by (kant) the Almighty-husband. (Jootthi = impure) being insincere (ki) of (man) the mind, she (kamaavai) acts (jootth = impure) deceitfully.

(Moorakh-i) the foolish soul-woman does not (jaanai = know) experience (saau = taste) the presence (ka) of (pir) the Almighty-husband; (bin-u = without) by not following (gur) the guru, s/he does not (paaee = got) have (boojh) the understanding/awareness of God’s presence within. 6.

Ḏurmaṯ kẖotī kẖot kamāvai.  Sīgār kare pir kẖasam na bẖāvai.  Guṇvanṯī saḏā pir rāvai saṯgur mel milā▫ī he. ||7||

A soul-woman (durmat-i) with evil thinking is (khotti = counterfeit) insincere and (kamaai) acts with (khott-u) insincerity, i.e. is pretentious. She is not (bhaavai) liked by (khasam = master) the Almighty (pir) husband even if she (karey) wears (seegaar) makeup, i.e. displays pretentious devotion.

On the other hand, (gunvanti) a virtuous soul-woman (sadaa) ever (raavai) enjoys company of (pir-u) the Almighty – within her; she is (milaaee) led (satigur-i) to the true guru, who (milaaee) unites her with, i.e. enables to find, the Almighty within. 7.

Āpe hukam kare sabẖ vekẖai.  Iknā bakẖas la▫e ḏẖur lekẖai.  An▫ḏin nām raṯe sacẖ pā▫i▫ā āpe mel milā▫ī he. ||8||

(Aapey = self) the Almighty (karey = issues, hukam-u = commands) causes everything to happen and (vekykhai) watches (sabh-u) everything. IT (bakhas-i laey) bestows grace (ikna) on some; they are those in whose (leykhai = account) destiny it is so written (dhur-i) from the source/by the Creator.

(Andin-u = everyday) ever (ratey) imbued (naam-i) with Naam, they (paaiaa) find (sach-u) the Eternal; (aap-ey = self) the Almighty (meyl-i) leads them to the guru who (milaaee) unites them with IT. 8.

Ha▫umai ḏẖāṯ moh ras lā▫ī.  Gurmukẖ liv sācẖī sahj samā▫ī.  Āpe melai āpe kar vekẖai bin saṯgur būjẖ na pā▫ī he. ||9||

(Dhaat-u = running) pursuits done (haumai = ego) in self-will (laai) create (ras-i = taste) liking – bind one in – (moh) attachment to the world-play – relatives, wealth, status and so on. But (liv) attention of (gurmukh-i) one who follows the guru, is fixed (saachi = true) on living by Naam and s/he (samaaee) absorbed, i.e. finds the Almighty within, and remains (sahj-i) in poise.

(Aapey) the Almighty (kar-i) creates the creatures and (veykhai) watches, and (meylai) unites – those whom IT approves; this (boojh) understanding is not (paaee) obtained (bin-u) except from (satigur) the true guru. 9.

Ik sabaḏ vīcẖār saḏā jan jāge.  Ik mā▫i▫ā mohi so▫e rahe abẖāge.  Āpe kare karā▫e āpe hor karṇā kicẖẖū na jā▫ī he.

(Ik-i = one type) some (jan) persons (veechaar-i) reflect on (sabad-u = Word) Divine commands and are (sadaa) ever (jaagey = awake) alert to temptations. (Ik-i) some (abhaagey) unfortunate ones (rahey) remain (soey = sleeping) inebriated (moh-i) by attachment to (maaiaa) the world-play – and fall prey to temptations.

But the creatures do nothing on their own; (aapey) the Almighty (karey) does and (karaaey) causes the creatures to act; (na kichhoo) nothing (hor-u) else (jaaee) can be (karna) done. 10.

Kāl mār gur sabaḏ nivāre.  Har kā nām rakẖai ur ḏẖāre.  Saṯgur sevā ṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā har kai nām samā▫ī he. ||11||

One who (maar-i) kills (kaal-u= death) the tendency to succumb to temptations and (nivaarey) drives them away (sabad-i) with teachings of the guru; s/he (rakhai) keeps Naam of (har-i) the Almighty (dhaarrey) enshrined in (ur) mind.

We should follow the guru for it is (tey) with (seyva = service) obedience to (satigur) the true guru, that one (samaaee) is absorbed (naam-i) in Naam of (har-i) the Almighty; this is how (sukh-u) peace is (paaiaa) attained. 11.

Ḏūjai bẖā▫e firai ḏevānī.  Mā▫i▫ā mohi ḏukẖ māhi samānī.  Bahuṯe bẖekẖ karai nah pā▫e bin saṯgur sukẖ na pā▫ī he. ||12||

The humankind (phirai = goes about) is (deyvaani) mad with (doojai = second) other (bhaaey) ideas – than obedience to Divine commands; being (moh-i) attached to (maaiaa) the world-play, it (samaani) remains (maah-i) in (dukh) distress for not being accepted by the Almighty.

One (karai does) adopts (bahutey) numerous (bheykh) garbs – pretends to be pious – but does not (paaey) find solace; (sukh-u) peace is not (paaee) attained (bin-u) without – giving up ego and – following (satigur) the true guru. 12.

Kis no kahī▫ai jā āp karā▫e.  Jiṯ bẖāvai ṯiṯ rāhi cẖalā▫e.  Āpe miharvān sukẖ▫ḏāṯa ji▫o bẖāvai ṯivai cẖalā▫ī he. ||13||

(Ja) when the Creator (aap-i) IT-self (karaaey) causes the creatures to act, then (no) to (kis) whom do we (kaheeai = tell) complain? IT (chalaaey = causes to move) causes things to happen (tit-u) that (raah-i = path) way (jit-u) as (bhaavai) pleases IT.

IT (chalaaee) causes things to happen (tivai) that way (jio) as IT (bhaavai) pleases; (aapey) the Almighty is (miharvaan-u) kind and (sukhdaataa = giver of peace) source of solace – and we should be happy with IT’s will. 13.

Āpe karṯā āpe bẖugṯā.  Āpe sanjam āpe jugṯā.  Āpe nirmal miharvān maḏẖusūḏan jis ḏā hukam na meti▫ā jā▫ī he. ||14||

(Aapey = self) the Almighty is IT-self (karta) the Creator/provider and IT-self (bhugta) the consumer – being in the creatures. Is (sanjam-u) kept back/reserve/not mixing, as well as (jugta = joined) present in all.

(Aapey) the Almighty is (nirmal-u = without dirt) pristine, (miharvaan-u) kind and (madhusoodan = killer of the demon Madh) destroyer of evil, (jis da) whose (hukam-u) commands (na jaaee) cannot (meyttiaa = effaced) be violated. 14.

Se vadbẖāgī jinī eko jāṯā.  Gẖat gẖat vas rahi▫ā jagjīvan ḏāṯā.

(Sey) those (jini) who (jaata = know) acknowledge (eyko) only the One Master are (vaddbhaagi) fortunate. IT is (jagjeevan = life of creatures) the Creator and (daataa = giver) provider who (vas-i rahiaa = dwells) is present (ghatt-i ghatt-i) in every body/mind.

Ik thai gupaṯ pargat hai āpe gurmukẖ bẖaram bẖa▫o jā▫ī he. ||15||

(Aapey = self) the Master is (gupat-u) hidden at (ik) one (thai/thaau) place – within us – and (pargatt-u) at another – in nature; one who understands this (gurmukh-i) with the guru’s guidance, his/her (bhram-u) doubt – about presence of God – and hence (bhau) fear of safety (jaaee = goes) leaves. 15.

Gurmukẖ har jī▫o eko jāṯā.  Anṯar nām sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.  Jis ṯū ḏėh so▫ī jan pā▫e Nānak nām vadā▫ī he. ||16||4||

Those (gurmukh-i) who follow the guru (jaata = know) acknowledge (eyko) only the One (jeeo) revered (har-i) Almighty Master. They (pachhaata) recognize (naam) presence of God (antar-i) within (sabad-i) with teachings of the guru.

O Creator: One (jis-u) whom (too) You (deyh-i = give) impart awareness, (soi) only that (jan-u) person (paaey) attains (vaddaaee) the greatness of living (naam-i) by Naam, says third Nanak. 16. 4.
