It happens when (vaddbhaagi) the fortunate person (paaee = obtained) joins (satsangat-i) holy congregation of (saadh) the guru; s/he (paaiaa = lands, paar-i = on far shore) gets across the world-ocean (sang-i = in company) with guidance of (saadhoo) the guru. 1.

(Oey) they (aap-i) themselves (tarey = swim) remain above vices and (taari) ferry (sabh) all (sristt-i) universe, i.e. everyone; (bhi) also (sabh-u) all (kul-u = lineage) those who follow them (paiaa = land, paar-i = on far shore) get across the world-ocean of vices, and reach God. 3.

Those who do not (peeaa) drink (amrit-u) the nectar, i.e. do not live by the life-giving Naam or Divine virtues and commands, (parsaadi = with grace) with guidance of (gur) the guru, their (trisna) thirst and (bhookh) hunger, i.e. craving for objects of transitory pleasures/gain does not (jaaee = go) leave them.

(Manmukh) self-willed persons who do not follow the guru, are (moorrh) foolish; such (ahankaari) vain persons (jaley) burn in the fire of desires; acting (vich-i) in (haumai) ego, they transgress and (paaee) come to (dukh-u) grief.

They do not (cheytah-i = keep in mind) acknowledge and obey the Creator (tey) from (jis) whom they (upjey) were created; such (jeevan-u) a life is (dhrig-u) disgraceful and disgraceful is (khaaee) to eat – enjoy the comforts – without acknowledging the Giver. 1.
