(Slok) prologue (M: 4) by the fourth Guru. (Gurmukh-i) one who follows the guru has (saant-i) peace (antar-i) within; his/her (man-i) mind and (tan-i) body (samaaey) remain absorbed (naam-i) in Naam, i.e. s/he is conscious of Naam in thoughts and deeds.

S/he keeps Naam (chitvai) in mind, (parrai) reads (naamo) about Naam, and (rahai) remains (laaey = fixed, liv = attention) absorbed – conducts the self – (naam-i) by Naam.

When (pdaarath-u = substance) the valuable awareness of Naam (paaeeai) is obtained – one acts as one should and all (chinta) anxiety (gaee) goes (bilaaey) away.

Those (jin-i) who (dhiaaiaa) pay attention (hirdai) in mind – and live by Naam – (dinas-u) day and (raat-i) night; they (miley) find God, there is no (rol-u) doubt in this.

When (daatai = giver) the beneficent (har-i) Almighty (kaddhiaa) takes out (hath-u) the hand – to give alms/benediction, i.e. bestows grace, then (meeh-u) rain (vutthaa) falls (saisaarai) on the world, i.e. the creatures get everything with God’s grace and should obey God.

(Ann-u) the grain (jammiaa) grows (kheyti) in the soil – the farmer gets the reward, similarly the creatures find the Almighty by (bhaau kar-i) lovingly (samhaarey) keeping in mind to live by Naam of (har-i) the Almighty.
