ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਬਿਭਾਸ                ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 5 bibẖās   Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.

Composition of the fifth Guru in raga Prabhaati, (bibhaas) to be sung at dawn.  Invoking the One all-pervasive Creator who may be known with the true guru’s grace.

Man har kī▫ā ṯan sabẖ sāji▫ā.   Pancẖ ṯaṯ racẖ joṯ nivāji▫ā.  Sihjā ḏẖaraṯ barṯan ka▫o pānī.   Nimakẖ na visārahu sevhu sārigpānī. ||1||

(Har-i) the Creator (keea) made (sabh) everything including (man-u) mind and (tan-u) body and (saajiaa) created the creature. And (rach-i) having created the body of (panch) five elements – earth, sky, water, air and space – (nivaajiaa) conferred/gave (jot-i = light) the soul.

God gave (dharat-i) the land (sihja = bed) to rest and (paani) water (kau) for (bartan) use, i.e. the wherewithal for subsistence. Do not for (nimakh) a moment (visaarhu) forget/ignore to (seyvhu = serve) obey directions of (saarigpaani = give of water to the rain bird) the Creator who has provided your needs. 1.

Man saṯgur sev ho▫e param gaṯe.   Harakẖ sog ṯe rahėh nirārā ṯāʼn ṯū pāvahi paranpaṯe. ||1|| rahā▫o.

O (man = mind) human being, (param) the supreme (gatey) state – of being unaffected by the world-play – (hoey = happens) comes (seyv-i = serving) by obeying (satigur-u) the true guru to live by Naam/Divine virtues and commands.

If you (rahah-i) remain (niraara = separate) unaffected (tey) by (harakh) joy and (sog) sorrow, i.e. accept Divine will, (taa-n) then (too) you will (paaah-i) find (pranpatey = master of life) the Creator. 1

(Rahaau) dwell on this and reflect.

The Creator (bhunchaaey = gave to consume) has provided (anik) numerous things like (kaaparr) clothes (bhog) food and (ras) objects of pleasure; and (banaaey = made) gave (maat) the mother (pitaa) father and (sagal) all (kuttamb) family.

God (samaahey) provided (rijak-u) the wherewithal to the creatures (jal-i) in water and (thal-i) in the soil, o (meet) friend. (Neeta neet) forever (seyvhu = serve) obey (so) that benevolent (har-i) Almighty Master. 2.

The Almighty (sakhaaee) is the helper (tah) there (jah) where there is (koey na) none to help. God (dhovai) washes off (kott-i) crores of (apraadh) faults in (ik) one (khin) moment – of one who starts living by Divine commands.

God (karai = does) gives (daat-i) benedictions but does not (pachhotaavai) repent even someone does not obey – and keeps giving. Does not (bulaavai) call (bahur-i) again to account for deeds (eyka) once God (bakhas) forgives that soul. 3.
